Director of Religious Education for Children and Youth

First Unitarian Congregation of Waterloo is a liberal religious community serving the Waterloo region.  We recently celebrated our 50th birthday and, in December 2007, moved to a new location in Kitchener.  We are a community of diverse beliefs and shared values, as articulated by the statement of purposes and principles adopted by the Canadian Unitarian Council.  (See http://www.cuc.ca/newcomers/principles.htm

We seek a part time Director of Religious Education (DRE) for children and youth who  will work in collaboration with the Minister and Children’s Religious Education  committee to ensure that First Unitarian provides excellent programs for children and  youth. 

We are looking for someone with a passion for learning and helping children and youth  explore life’s big questions.  The person we seek is not necessarily a Unitarian  Universalist, but must be in sympathy with our values and willing to learn more about our  denomination.  The DRE will have the opportunity to work with a vital community of  children, youth and their families in a growing congregation.

The position averages 15 hours per week. Music Director

Deadline for applications:  May 15, 2008.

We are a diverse, growing and “music loving” congregation of approximately 125 members and 70 children.  We seek an enthusiastic music professional to provide leadership for a developing music ministry throughout our congregation.  The successful candidate will be comfortable with a wide variety of musical genres and possess a high level of piano performance ability, along with other music proficiencies.  The Music Director will provide music for 30 Sunday services and assist with organizing other musical events throughout the year.  In addition, s/he will act as a musical resource/expert to encourage existing and potential musical talent within the congregation.  This is a great opportunity to work collaboratively with our Minister, Music Committee and other volunteers to grow our music program.   This is an eight (8) hour per week position, at $18.00 per hour. 
 
Interviews/Auditions are tentatively scheduled for June 20th & 21st.
Start Date:  prior to September 1st;  negotiable
