These sayings,
for young and old, man and woman,
and filled with faith
were found on the stones in our cemetery.

("..." means they were difficult to read after all the years)

Requiescat in Pace

May his/her/their soul(s) rest in peace. Amen.

She for whom this day we mourn,
We trust and hope that God has given
A place among the Saints in Heaven.

... evening rose did fade away
To bloom in everlasting day.

Poor child, his days on earth were few.
He past (sic) away like morning dew.

Sleep on sweet babe
And take thy rest.
God called thee home.
He thought it best.

The pains of death are past
... and sorrow ceased
and life's long ... closed at last.
Her soul is found in peace.

Friends or physicians could not save
This mortal body from the grave.
Nor can the grave confine it here
When Christ our Saviour shall appear.

Sweet G... unto earth
A little while was given.
She plumed her wings to flight
And soared away to heaven.

These lovely flowers to us awhile were given,
Transplanted now, they brightly bloom in heaven.

Mary Lee was my name.
Canada was my nation.
Peel was my dwelling place.
Heaven was my expectation.

A faithful friend, a husband dear,
A tender parent lieth here.
Great is the loss we here sustain
But hope in heaven to meet again.

... angels watch her sleeping dust
'Til Jesus comes to raise the just.
... may she ... with sweet surprise
And in her Saviour's image rise.

In death's cold arms lies sleeping here
A tender parent, a companion dear.
In love she lived, in peace she died.
Her life was asked, but was denied.

Dry up your tears and ...
I am not dead, but gone beyond.
Remember me and bear in mind
You have not long to stay behind.

Jesus ...
Her ...
God gave her offspring, may He be pleased
And meet her in eternal rest.

Farewell my friends and husband dear
I am not dead but sleeping here
...
...
...
... hope in heaven to meet again
